Re: Miracle Milk
When I bought two silicones from Claire, they came with a plastic bottle and an orange substance in it... she said just add water to it. and Wha la it was milk.. I have had Janika for years and my milk still looks like milk and is not oily at all...
I wonder because this stuff looks orange too.....

Re: Miracle Milk
As with most emulsions, the oil particles can break. Natural milk is an emulsion and would break if it was not homogenized; at one time, milk was not homogenized, and the cream would settle to the top, while the milk made up the bottom layer. No matter what you use...whether it's fabric softener...which congeals after a while...or Miracle Milk...they are emulsions and should be refreshed on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. I suggest you give the bottles a shake every so often.

Re: Miracle Milk
I have tried it and loved it at first but found that it left a rim around the bottle when the bottle sat for a couple days and it doesn't seem to go away when I shake up the bottle. Not sure if I did something wrong or not.

Re: Miracle Milk
I will ask my question again...if making these to sell...or to send with a reborn...would you not seal the rim to the bottle?
If you do seal it..then you would not be able to refresh it..and if you don't..you risk a leaky bottle.

Re: Miracle Milk
I bought this but haven't tried it yet but with the fabric softener bottles, I glue them but by the time they get congealed I can usually break the seal with a jar opener to re-do them. I would never leave them in a baby's mouth or with the bottle top down, too risky

Re: Miracle Milk
Janan, I didn't glue the cap to the bottle on the ones I was selling at ROSE. You don't need to glue the cap down when you feed a bottle to a real baby, so I don't see why we should have to worry about leakage. I think it is important to be able to dump out the contents if they have gone bad. Just make sure the person knows it is not real milk!

Re: Miracle Milk
Oh, and if you are worried about them leaking in shipping, USPS guidelines say that if you are shipping a liquid you must have adequate packing material to soak up the liquid if it were to leak. It probably won't leak, but I would think packing it in a zip lock bag with paper towels around it would be enough.

Re: Miracle Milk
The ones you were selling at ROSE, did they have fabric softener in them or the magic milk? Cause so far the one I bought from you is perfect and hasn't gone clumpy or anything.EmilyJ wrote:Janan, I didn't glue the cap to the bottle on the ones I was selling at ROSE. Re: Miracle Milk
I don't seal by bottle shut either... I either have the nipple sealed with silicone or in the case of a latex or rubber one, I use the disk to stop it from coming out the nipple.. I have never had a problem with them leaking... that way I can change the stuff in it when it gets thick. I have a great little bottle I bought years ago and I wish I could take the cap off!EmilyJ wrote:Janan, I didn't glue the cap to the bottle on the ones I was selling at ROSE. Re: Miracle Milk
After a week of leaving my bottles with the magic milk in them they are getting a greasy film around them Boo hoo. And I have two bottles of this stuff. Oh well.

Re: Miracle Milk
I saw some YouTube videos of girls making bottles with lotion and water or hair conditioner and water. Has anyone tried this? Does it separate?

Re: Miracle Milk
As a retired chemist, I decided to do an experiment. I added a few drops of iso propyl alcohol, a.k.a. rubbing alcohol to stablize the Miracle Milk. I did it the day before Easter, and every bottle is still nice and soluble. Now, of course, eventually, the bottles will need to be replenished, as with fabric softener. Unless homogenized, any emulsion will eventually break and separate, but to me, it's worth it. It's so much easier than using fabric softener, and if you use vanilla extract to add a brownish color, there's alcohol already in it.

Re: Miracle Milk
The alcohol is an interesting idea.
I dumped out all the milk I made up that I had in plastic bottles because I was concerned it might damage the plastic after reading the comments here about the ring about the bottles. However, I have one glass bottle that is my own display bottle and I left the miracle milk in it. It has been a week now and I have noticed that it does settle some and it does leave a ring at the top as it settles BUT once I shake the bottle up again that all goes away and it looks good as new! I like how when it is shaken it makes air bubbles just like real milk does. I really like the look of it overall. So I think for using in a glass bottle I am totally fine with this product and just replacing it as it wears out. I am going to try putting some in a plastic bottle with the drop of alcohol and see how that does. Thanks for the tip!
