Any idea who the doll is in this picture?
I would like to find out more about the doll my mother is holding in this picture.
She was born in 1941 if that helps any.
Thanks in advance!

Hope this close up helps. Also giving the approximate date would help. Best of luck. Ruth

Thank you for enlarging the picture.
I don't know if the doll was new to her or not.

Re: Any idea who the doll is in this picture?
I found out from reading my mother's baby book that she got a doll for her 2nd birthday. If this is the doll, and it was given to her new, it would have been in 1943.

Re: Any idea who the doll is in this picture?
The mouth appears to be open and the eyes painted. I would google drink and wet dolls from the 1940s especially 1943. Looks like a composition with molded hair but might be some sort of plastic???

Re: Any idea who the doll is in this picture?
I’m going to guess it is an Ideal baby just because it is kind of like the Dy-Dee baby and what I just learned on google is that it could be a 13 inch PRE-DY-DEE baby. But dy-dee was produced starting in 1933 so maybe this is a second hand doll your mother has?

Re: Any idea who the doll is in this picture?
Hi I found this doll on Etsy.
It looks like a pretty good match for your doll. Composition, painted eyes, molded hair. The size seems good. I doubt you will find a name or maker for your doll since so many were made in the 1930 - 1940 period. Ruth

Looks like a rubber baby to me. The eyes look inset.

Hi, I recently got a group of dolls at auction and among them was this American Character drink and wet baby (I think) Original clothes, eyes open and close slowly -- about 14 inches. If you want her just pay postage and she is yours. Ruth

Re: Any idea who the doll is in this picture?
Perhaps it's an Arranbee "Dream Baby" from the 1930's. They made some with painted eyes as this one and some with sleepy eyes. The only other thing I thought it might be right off the bat was some type of Patsy doll by Effanbee. There seem to be a lot of different evolutions of this doll too. Some sit some, some don't. Different sizes, and painted vs sleepy, open/close eyes, etc. as well. GL on your quest.

Re: Any idea who the doll is in this picture?
I have been told that the companies just used "leftover parts" to make dolls and that is why there is so much confusion on "original". Ruth
