Need advice on pricing

Post by JessicaV » Tue Sep 11, 2018 7:19 am

So I've been recently asked how much I would charge to just paint a kit (not purchased by me and not assembled, or rooted or anything else). I'm not sure how to price it as I don't know how many hours go into my dolls. This is not my full-time job so I only work on the dolls during my free time. I will attach some pictures of my work. Thank you!

I would think $200 is a good price.

Hi, for a kit 15-18 inches I charges $125, for 19-21 inches I charge $150 -$175 the reason for the flex in price is because this in the average size newborn but some of them have massive detailing that takes a lot of extra time so that would be the higher price, for kits 22-26 inches it’s $175-$200, and for 27 -^ i start at $250. And buyer has to pay shipping both ways this includes tracking, insurance and signature confirmation. I insist on the signature confirmation because I’ve had a buyer claim she never received the doll although it the tracking said delivered PayPal sided with her and refunded her money.

Do you seal your babies with Genesis Matte Varnish?

Yes I do Genesis matte varnish. I told her $200-250 depending if it was a huge kit with belly plate etc. She said that was a lot (price). Thank you ladies so much for your advice.

Thank you for your reply! As a collector, I'd gladly pay $200-$250 to have a good artist paint just the kit parts for me! I don't think that price was too high at all!

I am a collector and an artist, your work is gorgeous! Your price is perfect and I would pay it to have some of my own kits painted as well with your work. Don't lower your price for one person. Stay true to you!
