Post the oldest baby in your collection...

Post by Annette »

Ok, let’s have some fun!! 😊🥳🎉😉

Show off the oldest baby/doll in your collection. It can be the one you’ve had the longest, or it can be when it was made. Any medium. And any story behind it, if there is one. ie. gift, how you came to buy it, where you found it, whatever. 😉

GO!! 😉😊
Hugs Annette

This is my oldest - a restored compo made in the early 1920's I believe. She's about 26". I purchased her on Ebay in 2013. I'm not sure of her name or maker - there aren't any markings on her shoulder plate. She could possibly be a Dimples.

She’s beautiful! I wonder if the dolls being made now, will last as long, and in as good condition, as those made back then? 😊

Thanks Annette!! I wonder that as well although the vinyl the manufactured dolls are made of is pretty durable.

This is the oldest baby in my collection. She belonged to my grandmother (born in 1913) when she was a child. I have two of them, but one needs to be re-strung. This little one is in my display case. She is probably about 6-7 inches long. When I was a little girl, my grandma would let me hold them sometimes. I guess she knew I would love and treasure them because she gave them to me before she died.

What a treasure! ❤️ Thankyou for sharing her! Do you know what she’s made of, and who made her?

Gorgeous! Beautiful faces. What lovely gifts!
I wonder what the makers of these dolls would think of the ones being made now. 😊

"Oldest" is a hard term for me to define -- oldest meaning I have owned it the longest or oldest meaning it was made a long time ago. Since I collect antique dolls there are many to choose from in both categories. So I have decided to just show you an old doll I got recently and I just love her. She is an Alabama Baby cloth doll made by Ella Smith and sometimes called an Indestructible Baby. She was made in the early 1900s. She is in amazing condition considering how old she is.
