the days when tons of dolls were posted on Doll-Fan. As a matter of fact, I bought most of my dolls from individuals on this board. I miss those days. I could mostly rely on the dolls I bought as being authentic. Now, so many of the FB sites have stolen sculpts. So sad.

Totally agree with you Marilyn. Those were such fun times of enjoying our dolls. I met so many nice ladies on this forum. I really miss the good old days.

I too miss when you could not wait to go on Doll fan to see what was happening and what was for sale

I miss the old DollFan when back in the day we had so many posts and so many interesting topics and so many wonderful dollies. Makes me sad, the Ladies on this forum got me through some of the darkest days of my life. I have only bought silicones and reborns from wonderful Ladies on Dollfan and BJD's and cloth dolls and vintage dolls and beautiful handmade clothes. Wish people would come back I miss them all so much.

I hear you Georgeanne, I bought several dolls from you and others on this board. All trustworthy and in today's world you don't know who to trust and who not too. Too many scammers. I wish everyone would come back.

I agree. When I first came on here I couldn’t keep up with all the post. Lately there are hardly any post at all. Another forum that I used to go to hasn’t has only one or two post since Christmas.

I agree. Things have changed so much since FB and other sites started. Especially in the doll community. It’s sad that a lot of members have left and gone to FB. I feel that it’s not safe to buy or sell over there at all. And most of my doll purchases and sales have been on here, because this is where I feel the safest.
So, what can we do to bring back the old Doll-Fan fun?

We have tried so many times to "bring back the old days" and the fun that we had. One or two people can't change things, though. It would take everyone sharing their dolls, their baby outfits, posting on threads........just participating as much as you can to change things. There are still a lot of members registered, but only a handful share and post. DF has the potential to make a comeback, but it would take energy to resurrect it. It can't just be the usual handful of wonderful ladies trying to prop it up. SOOOOO if you want it to be a lot more fun and interesting here, help us by posting and sharing! I am talking to myself, too. Otherwise, I don't see a Doll Fan in the future, and that would be very sad. I have SO many wonderful Friends here, and I have bought all of my dolls here, too. If everyone puts in the time and energy, even for a few minutes every day, we could make it happen

I miss it too! I loved this forum, and I still stay subbed just incase it becomes active again...but then I only come back every few months to see if it has picked up... (that doesn't help the problem) I was always more of a replier than an original poster! I will try to be better and more active, and share more : )

It is good to know that many of us miss this forum- FB has provided much distraction from it but cannot offer the same level of genuine sharing in a doll-exclusive group. I will try to add more content to encourage this fun space again. I responded more to this topic on Klynn17 post of “why does this site exist”

I miss so much. I miss the games and laughter. I miss the artists. Mostly I miss the days of having so many dolls to choose from when the baby buying urge hit. Most of all of my dolls came from here. I could find so many silicone dolls to buy that didn't send me to the poor house. I really miss that. Remember all of the doll stories? We had some naughty dolls here didn't we? It's sad that everyone seemingly has scattered to the four winds. Now I'm scared to buy dolls because I don't trust the seller. That's because I don't know them. It's just sad. I don't post here like I should. I miss the good ole days.

I hear what you’re all saying, and I feel the same way. There was a camaraderie here, a family so to speak, back in the day. We all enjoyed each other’s dolls, we played games, we shared jokes. We shared our lives too. And we made, for some, lifelong friends. I know I have. And we trusted whomever we did dolly deals with. Since the inception of Facebook, the majority of the members here, have gone over there. I guess they didn’t feel that the fees justified them staying.
I dread selling on there or showing my dolls for sale, because I just never know who is going to see or want them, and I’m so sick of people saying they want my dolls, then change their minds when they hear that they’re shipping from Canada. I put that on every post I make. I guess they just don’t read, and just look at the pictures!
I feel much safer selling and buying on here, with people I know and trust.

All that being said, How can we get more members coming back, and how can we suggest to Steve, how to improve it here so that people WANT to come back, or new members join? Even with the fees. How can we make a positive promotion of the site?

Well said Dion. I agree, but I'm guilty of not posting, or coming on here to often. Life has definitely become more busy the older I get. I remember being on this forum in my late teens. Started collecting at 15. I turned 40 this year. Time flies .

I have to agree with all of you! Doll-fan was my go-to, feel good place. I miss all the wonderful people that we connected to and the variety of babies we could view. I don’t like all the specific groups on FB. I hardly ever come here anymore, so sad!

I joined 17 years ago and it’s a long lost friend.

Glad to see you post Glenna, I visit everyday but sadly there is almost no activity. I wish we could get everyone to come back it was so much fun.
