Getting back into reborning

Post by nanas newborns »

Hi Friends, I used to reborn several years ago and would like to paint dolls again. I am so out of the loop as far as technic and supplies go, so need some advice. What paints are now being used to paint the dolls? I used to use Genesis and bake the vinyl after each layer, but have heard there are now air dry paints. Is that the way to go now? If so, what brand is best and are there tutorials around to show the process? i am excited to get back into this art and would appreciate any advice you can give me! Nancy Hoskins :D

Hi Nancy! Just came back today after a couple of years. I haven’t picked up a brush since I left . It’ll be interesting to see what everyone is now doing.
Love and hugs,

I have lost any reborning mojo I have ever had. I need to get some things in order so I can start reborning again. I hope.

I have painted three babies in the past month, so am back into it for a while anyway. I am just using the Genesis heat set paints I used four years ago. They seem to be working OK, just need thinning with paint thinner. It all comes back pretty quick, but my rooting is not good. I think at 81 years old my patience for it is gone! I have gotten into painting pictures lately so am in a few art/craft shows with them, and think I will add a few of the babies to the shows and see what happens! Good luck to you ladies who are thinking about getting back into reborning, it is still fun and rewarding! Nancy

I agree about it being rewarding. My problem is space. I don’t have a separate area to work in and reborning is messy. I want to try and at least finish the ones I started . It’s been a few years so I hope my supplies are still usable.
